Hailed as one of the greatest athletes ever to play professional sports, he is one of only 7 players in the history of Major League Baseball to reach over 3,000 hits and over 450 home runs. A Sports Illustrated poll ranked him as one of the top four athletes of all time.

His professional career took off in 1973 with the San Diego Padres, followed by 8 consecutive All-Star seasons with the New York Yankees as the highest paid player in all sports at the time. In 1990, he joined the California Angels earning the Comeback Player of the Year award, followed by a magical year with the Toronto Blue Jays where he drove in the winning run of the 1992 World Series. Dave returned to his native Minnesota and reached his 3,000th hit milestone with the Twins. He ended his illustrious career after the 1995 season with the American League Champion Cleveland Indians.

Dave was inducted in 2001 into the baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York, in his first year of eligibility - a testament to his extraordinary achievements. His accolades also include induction into the Halls of Fame for St. Paul Central High School, the University of Minnesota, the San Diego Padres, and the NCAA College Baseball Hall of Fame.

Following his retirement from professional baseball, Winfield has become a respected businessman, executive, advisor, and professional speaker, with offices in New York City, Los Angeles, California, and Scottsdale, Arizona.
